To make your time with us truly unforgettable you can even take it away with you. For an additional fee, we employ in-car cameras, to provide a professionally edited video of your race school experience.
At ABRS, our Formula Renault 1600 Monza racecars, built in Italy by Specialist Racing Constructors Tatuus. For more details on Tatuus, visit their website at http://www.tatuus.it/
We are the only racing school in North America to utilize vehicles with Monocoque carbon fibre chassis, manufactured in the same factory that produces chassis for a number of Formula One teams. Chassis are 100% Carbon Fiber, versus every other racing school which still use tube frame chassis technology that dates from the 1960s.
Gearboxes are five speed sequential transmissions with no lift shift programming, enabling the driver to smoothly make gear changes at a faster and more consistent rate. This decreases the possibility of missed shifts, something quite common in the older H pattern system. This system also allows for the use of both left and right foot braking techniques, both of which are taught at ABRS. Five speed sequential transmissions are now the preferred technology of such series as Champcar, IRL and Formula Atlantic.
Each Racecar is equipped with a dash-mounted AIM or XAP Onboard Data Acquisition Computer. These computers record driver, engine and chassis information, which in our advanced lapping courses will be used by ABRS instructors to analyze driver performance and thus enhance their driving skills. These systems are now commonplace at all levels of racing, but seldom used in racing schools.
Each racecar is also equipped with radio communication allowing the driver to receive live feedback from ABRS instructors while in motion. Radios are now a common form of communication between drivers and their pit crew, and are another aspect of driving that the modern racing driver must become familiar with. Once again, this is something offered at ABRS that is not provided by other racing schools.
The Monoshock Pushrod suspension represent the very latest technology currently used in all advanced formula racecars. Both front wheels act on a single spring and the shock absorber is mounted on the top of the chassis, connected to the wheels by means of a pushrod. This system reduces both weight and air resistance, making for a faster racecar.
All ABRS racecars are powered by Fuel Injected 4 cylinder 1600 cc, manufactured by Renault, Formula One World Champions in both 2005 and 2006.
