In 2017, the team made its debut on the Mazda Road to Indy in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda, and their driver Parker Thompson scored the operation’s first win in a weekend sweep on the street of Toronto that July. The Red Deer, Alberta resident kept that streak alive as he delivered for the Exclusive Autosport crew again this weekend, taking home their first win in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. Thompson’s Tatuus PM-18 rolled out of the hauler on rails, providing him with the car to score the pole position for both Race 1 and Race 2, obliterating the track record in the process. Teammate Antonio Serravalle is just beginning his career in cars after many successful years in karting, and this was the young Canadian’s first time in wheel-to-wheel competition at the incredible Barber facility, having tested their earlier in the year.

The Canadian finished second in Race 1 and then backed up his strong performance with a fifth in Race 2, which leaves him sitting second in the championship standings to begin the 2018 season. Exclusive Autosport fielded a pair of Tatuus PM-18 cars in St. Pete for Thompson and fellow Canadian Antonio Serravalle, the 15-year-old rookie from Ontario. Serravalle logged tremendous experience on the challenging street circuit, finishing 11th in the opening race and 13th in the second event of the doubleheader.

- [Learning How to Learn to Improve!](https://www.allenbergracingschools.com/expert-advice/learn-to-improve/): I face a common scenario when coaching: a driver makes some progress in driving a track faster and feels that they've gone as fast as they can, but still wants to go half a second faster. I suggest to that driver that they go back to the hotel, think about the progress they made that day, do mental imagery of driving the track half a second faster, and then go to sleep. And guess what? Most times, the driver is half a second (or more) faster the next day.

- [Strength and Conditioning Primer: a Lesson from Niki Lauda on the Necessity of Both Will and Skill](https://www.allenbergracingschools.com/expert-advice/strength-conditioning-primer-lesson-niki-lauda/): Is there any amount of money that could convince you to get behind the wheel of a 200-mile-per-hour, bomb-on-wheels racecar for an entire season-- 16 races? OK, I’ll assume you’re humoring me, and named a price. Here’s the catch, you’ll have a 10-percent chance of dying that season. This was the dangerous and exhilarating world that three-time Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda raced in during the 1970s. Lauda had a strong, multi-faceted character, chastened by alertness and-- driven. In 1976, the year after his first world championship, he was nearly killed in a fiery accident at the Nurburgring in Germany. Breaking the 7-minute mark at the “Green Hell”-- as the track is called, is still a test of mettle for million-dollar Supercars today. Lacking sophisticated electronics and technology, Lauda used the Italian four-wheeled version of the Statue of David or Mona Lisa, known as the Ferrari, to complete the course in under 7 minutes in 1975. The next year after nearly being killed at the “Green Hell,” he returned to full competitive form in six weeks.

It can be improved with your habits and routines, and of course, it can also worsen with the wrong habits and routines. Your body is governed by natural principles innate to your Biology. It's similar to the way the sun rises and falls, gravity pulls things to the Earth, and a farmer reaps his harvest. It is authentic.

- [Allen Berg Racing Schools Will Make You a Better Driver](https://www.allenbergracingschools.com/expert-advice/allen-berg-one-five-racing-schools-will-make-better-driver/): Allen Berg moved from Alberta, Canada, four years ago, setting up his school at Auto Club Speedway, in Fontana, California. Since then Berg has expanded, with courses at other tracks in California and Arizona, including regular operations at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Berg, who briefly raced in Formula One, says a factor that distinguishes his school is his personal involvement in the instruction. Also, the school's open-wheel cars powered by 1.6-liter Renault engines have carbon-fiber chassis and run on racing slicks. And Berg says, "We have data systems on all our race cars, and we monitor the driver's channel. That's one of the major, major points." Prices for the three-day program range from $4495 to $6495. As a perquisite for graduates, Berg says he's "we're working very hard to try to create our own racing series next year. I hope we'll be able to have that announcement by the middle of October.

- [A Dad’s Guide to Karting](https://www.allenbergracingschools.com/expert-advice/dads-guide-to-karting/): The atmosphere at our local racing club (Calgary Kart Racing Club) is great. The track is brand new, the club executive vastly experienced in karting and the race director has years of experience. The events are very well organized. The other Dad's all seem to me so relaxed all the time, speaking of how the most important thing is that everyone is safe and has a great time. I play it cool as well. However, I often wonder if I am I the only father there that wants my son to win. Am I the only person at the track that may actually require the paramedics to revive me each time that he is on the track?

- [Thomas Merrill](https://www.allenbergracingschools.com/race-school/team/thomas-merrill/): Thomas won his first kart title in 1998 when he was just 11, and took six strait.  At 16, he won his first regional championship -- making it back to back the next year.  To top that off, he went on to take back-to-back national titles in 2005 and 2006. 2006 and 2007 were spent racing formula cars in SCCA and the Pacific F2000, clinching a championship and Rookie of the Year award, as well as 3 track records and over 15 wins. In 2008, he made the transition to Grand Am with PR1 Motorsports, campaigning a Pontiac GXP.R in the GT class. In 2010, he made his second appearance at the 24 Hours of Daytona, in a Dinan BMW M6.  In recent years Thomas has been in a variety of endurance sports cars, and raced in the 2014 SCCA Runoffs for the Piper Race Cars factory team.  Thomas has grown to specialize in chassis setup development in conjunction with his driver coaching business, Thomas Merrill Motorsports.
