The benefits of ABMS operating a driver training program include the following:
Ideal for new drivers & teens, as well as those who are uncomfortable driving in low traction conditions
Unique ABMS Core Concepts and Teaching Methodology developed through specialized experience at the professional driving level.
You can rely on a reputable agency that specializes in the high-level driver training field.
Use of only purpose built skid pad in Calgary area.
Create an awareness of the significance of excessive speed, creating better judgment by drivers.
Each student receives a guidebook with all Core Concept materials.
Certificates of Achievement after successful completion of program.
Most road car incidents are completely avoidable. Create an understanding and reinforcement of how correct attitude, attention and judgment directly relate to safe driving.
Increase and improve vision and awareness skills in order for the driver to identify potential driving hazards prior to becoming engaged in an emergency situation, thus help the driver to implement appropriate corrections prior to becoming involved in an incident.
We provide the driver with sufficient knowledge to quickly assess an emergency situation, and then implement the correct driving measures in order to maximize chances of recovery. This hands-on module is critical in the student understanding and “buying in” to the importance of understanding vehicle dynamics.
With Allen Berg Motorsports (ABMS) extensive background in creating, developing and implementing professional driver training events, we are introducing our Winter Safety and Defensive Driver Training Programs in Calgary, AB consisting of the following:
A. Classroom training sessions using multimedia presentation and accompanying student guidebook outlining the following core concepts. The classroom session will include a selection of the following:
A leading contributor to the safe and responsible control of a vehicle.
Covers seating, hand and foot position, control modulation, headrest, mirrors - correct positioning and use of the vehicle controls allows the driver to maintain maximum control of the vehicle in emergency maneuvers. This is often highly overlooked in driver training.
Covers vehicle safety systems and how they are all related to correct use of the seatbelt. Seatbelts save lives and reduce injury.
Covers pre-season preparation list, pre-trip preparation list, Emergency Kit items in case of emergency situations and / or stranded in remote locations.
90% of drivers who take our courses have poor vision skills. We implement a couple of exercises to demonstrate how to properly use both focal and peripheral vision, scanning techniques, proper lead time and use of mirrors. Improved use of vision directly relates to improved (safer) driver performance.
Systems, techniques, consequences of speed and numerous tips. To ensure drivers have an understanding how to achieve maximum braking capacity and control in emergency situations.
Covers misconceptions concerning use of SUVs as well as numerous tips and techniques for safe operation of including common sense loading practices.
Including sleep debt, symptoms, causes, effects and solutions.
Covers the different manners on the ways using of a wireless device affects your driving performance and the potential deadly impact.
Strategies on how to minimize risks of night driving.
Effects on driving performance, consequences.
Includes basic information on the tire, contact patch, slip angle, friction circle, three forces achieved through a tire.
Covers weight transfer, effects of slip angle, and dynamics including under steer and over steer.
Includes front-wheel drive vs. rear-wheel drive vs. four-wheel drive.
B. Skid Pad practical session (4 hours) in
drivers vehicle including:
- Various accident avoidance and vehicle control exercises.
- Instruction and observation by ABMS instructors.
- Individual student evaluation by ABMS instructors including;
- Identification of causes of driving deficiencies.
- Counseling/ reinforcement based on student evaluation and core concepts.
Although this program is marketed as a safety program, the dynamics of the event prove to be very challenging for drivers of all skill levels. In we have year-round access to one of the only skid-pad training areas in Calgary area.
This program can also be directed towards specific departments or particular vehicle segments such as light trucks. In view of the workload challenges in this industry we can implement this program in a single day or over several, depending on numbers and time schedules required.
