Allen Berg Racing Frequently Asked Questions on school policy and more

Frequently Asked questions

Are there weight and height restrictions?
Our Formula 1 style racecars can accommodate anyone 5’0” to 6’7” and maximum weight of about 260 lbs. Please contact us at if you have further questions
What if it rains / bad weather?
We will advise you by email or phone if weather conditions cause the delay of cancellation your class
Can I bring a guest?
You are welcome to bring family/friends to share the experience with you. We have specific viewing areas, to see you on the track. Guests are subject to the same rules and regulations as students.
Can I buy one as a gift?
Yes, all programs are available in gift certificate form. You can purchase without selecting a date so the lucky racing student can select the best date and time. We can also include a personalized letter from Allen, so let us know the occasion.
How fast does the racecar go?
You’ll be driving an authentic Formula One style racecar, that’s equipment with Hankook racing slicks; capable of pulling over 2G’s of force. Each road course has multiple turns so cornering speeds can exceed 90 mph. Every student and track is different; we encourage you to drive at near race speeds.
Can I pass?
Yes, passing is allowed in all programs with the exception of the 20 Lap Adventure Program. An additional 10 laps are available to add to the 20 Lap Adventure Program, which are treated as a hot laps session with passing allowed. These hot laps would immediately follow your 20 lap session.
Why can’t I pass?
The 20 Lap Adventure Program & Introductory to Racing allows all drivers to reach fast speeds, but additional track time is needed to safely learn the racecars and track. A passing upgrade is available ($100), where you drive ten hot laps with passing allowed.
Do I need any prior racing experience?
No racing experience is required; but you must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a manual transmission in order to participate in our 20 Lap Adventure Program
Are there any age requirements?
In order to participate in the 20 Lap Adventure Program or the Fast Track Program, you must be at least 16 years of age or older
What is provided?
We provide all equipment, including driver’s suit, helmet and gloves. Wear closed toed shoes and clothes that will be comfortable under the drivers suit. If you have your own equipment, they must be Snell and FIA compliant.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your Driver Information packet that you received, including your order and booking confirmation as well as closed toe shoes and clothes that will be comfortable under the drivers suit. Keep in mind that the race car pedals sit very close together, so skinnier shoes are highly recommended. We recommend shorts and t-shirt to wear under the racing suit, NOT jeans.
Do I follow an instructor?
All programs begin by following a high-speed performance car driven at very high speeds, by a professional racecar driver. As you become more comfortable driving a Formula One style racecar, your speed increases, exceeding cornering speeds of 90 mph. Students in the 20 Lap Adventure Program chase the racecar driver throughout their experience. Hot laps with passing allowed can be purchased so you will not be following anyone, after you have completed the 20 Lap Adventure Program.
Do you offer video?
Yes, GoPro cameras, the official sponsor to Allen Berg Racing Schools, are available to capture your race day experience on the track. Mounted just above the driver’s helmet (just like the pro drivers), you will receive the HD footage before you leave the track on an SD card.
Can I use my own video camera?
No, as the official sponsor to GoPro, and for liability reasons of equipment and captured footage, we can only use our supplied cameras.
Do you offer insurance / What if I damage the racecar?
We offer an insurance policy to limit your liability, as each racecar is very expensive. We provide training and high quality racecars, so damage is unlikely, but we still highly recommend purchasing the insurance policy in order to reduce your financial exposure to only $2,000 in the case of any incident.
What are your cancellation / rescheduling policies?
The 20 Lap Adventure Program:
• Cancellations and rescheduling can be made up to 7 days before your scheduled class.
• Cancellations and rescheduling made within 7 days of or your class may result in additional fees
• Cancellations and rescheduling are not accepted on the day of your event.
