MONTEREY, California (August 1, 2023) Allen Berg Racing Schools returns to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on August 28 + 29 following the historic track’s completion of its most extensive capital improvement project in more than two decades. The glorious track’s $20 million and eight-month renovation and beautification project concluded in July, and we can’t wait to offer our students the chance to pass under the new Mission Foods Bridge at speed on the newly re-paved track surface.

Elected officials, county staff invited business leaders, and WeatherTech Raceway staff participated in the celebratory inauguration and bridge-cutting ceremony in early July. Speaking at the ceremony was County of Monterey Supervisor Luis Alejo. “The County of Monterey is proud to make these significant investments in our world-renowned WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca,” commented Luis Alejo, Chair of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. “We want to keep attracting premier racing events and tourism while making the experience as enjoyable as possible to the racers, volunteers, and many spectators. Our county recognizes that Laguna Seca is a special place known all over the world, and we want to elevate its prominence among the best tracks anywhere.” John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, at the ribbon cutting event, enthused, “This is a remarkable day for the community, event, and motorsport fans as we reopen and welcome the community back to use the new bridge and track surface.”

The project, which began last November, included a complete repaving of the 2.238-mile track, an impressive new Start/Finish bridge, extensive ground beautification of the historic recreation area, and a fresh coat of paint on many of the buildings that blend seamlessly into the surrounding hills and landscape. After multiple setbacks due to the unprecedented storms and flooding over the past eight months, the track and everyone involved in the project can enjoy the “new and improved” facility. Over the same eight-month period, ABRS expanded its fleet by adding an additional 10 Tatuus Monza race cars. We also successfully operated our first events east of the Mississippi with programs at two historic east coast tracks; Virginia Int’l Raceway and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Our west coast fleet of race cars is all refurbished and ready for our students to hustle through the Corkscrew on the new pavement! Seats for our 2-day racing schools on August 28 + 29 are limited, and you can check availability and book yours here today.

Allen Berg ranks among Canada's top racing personalities. He won the Formula Pacific Tasman Championship, won at Silverstone against Ayrton Senna and Martin Brundle in perhaps the greatest year ever in British Formula 3, and qualified for nine starts in F1, a record bettered among his countrymen only by Gilles and Jacques Villeneuve.
