One pf the five racing schools

Allen Berg moved from Alberta, Canada, four years ago, setting up his school at Auto Club Speedway, in Fontana, California. Since then Berg has expanded, with courses at other tracks in California and Arizona, including regular operations at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Berg, who briefly raced in Formula One, says a factor that distinguishes his school is his personal involvement in the instruction. Also, the school’s open-wheel cars powered by 1.6-liter Renault engines have carbon-fiber chassis and run on racing slicks. And Berg says, “We have data systems on all our race cars, and we monitor the driver’s channel. That’s one of the major, major points.” Prices for the three-day program range from $4495 to $6495. As a perquisite for graduates, Berg says he’s “we’re working very hard to try to create our own racing series next year. I hope we’ll be able to have that announcement by the middle of October.

Allen Berg ranks among Canada's top racing personalities. He won the Formula Pacific Tasman Championship, won at Silverstone against Ayrton Senna and Martin Brundle in perhaps the greatest year ever in British Formula 3, and qualified for nine starts in F1, a record bettered among his countrymen only by Gilles and Jacques Villeneuve.
