The corkscrew welcomes its first class of 2021

The first Allen Berg Racing Schools three-day formula car racing school of 2021 took place March 9 – 11. And although WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is impeccably maintained, the light rain and soggy conditions that welcomed our enthusiastic staff and eager students seemed appropriate as a metaphor to wash away the challenges of 2020.  However, as the program advanced, the weather became more pleasant and on the third day, dry conditions were prevalent throughout the whole day.

The sold-out event was trouble-free and everyone involved enthusiastically understood and followed all of the COVID protocols as established by both ABRS and the race track.

Our 2021 season started with several of the race cars getting an off-season facelift of sorts. New paint and new graphics made their debut thanks to the hard work of long-time motorsports pioneer, and chief mechanic for our fleet of Tatuus carbon fiber race cars Carlos Bobeda. Big thanks go to Carlos for his efforts over the break, and he will complete the refreshing of the entire fleet in the coming weeks.

Students were also chased by an ‘eye-in-the-sky as we continued to test the use of FAA-approved 100-MPH drones in our curriculum. The drone pilots enjoyed chasing our students through the corkscrew and we will publish some footage of that on our social channels and website soon.

All in all, a great start to the season, and we look forward to our next events on April 7-9, and May 25-27. As of this writing, there are just a few seats remaining.

Here’s what a couple of our three-day grads had to say about our first program of 2021:

“From the assignment of our equipment on the first day through to the final review of data traces on the last day, the Allen Berg Racing Schools experience was one of efficiency, and focused attention to detail, both on track and off. Schedules were run with military precision and track time was crafted to give us all the most opportunity on developing our skills. All of the instructors were clearly world-class drivers, yet approachable and willing to help with all elements of our experience at the school. Probably one of the best instructional experiences of my life and I can’t wait for the next opportunity. Thank you for a fantastic experience!”

“There’s a saying in racing that ‘straight roads are for fast cars and curves are for fast drivers.’ Allen Berg Racing Schools will make you a fast driver. Between the cars, instructors and the iconic WeatherTech Laguna Seca race track, your racing skills will be put to the test. This was my second time with ABRS. Each time I leave with more knowledge and skills. I can’t wait to come back again.”
