Abrs grad rzadzinski places 2nd in ontario formula ford championship

Edmonton, AB. October 10th, 2010 – Stefan Rzadzinski took to the grid for the final weekend of the 2010 Ontario Formula Ford Championship in a tight battle for the overall points title. Rounds 13 and 14 of the championship took place once again at the challenging and high speed Mosport International Raceway.

Rzadzinski was quick out of the box on Saturday setting the fastest time of the early morning practice session. Driving The ABL Group car, he quickly showed he had the necessary pace to challenge for victory on the final weekend of the season. He followed the session up with a 3rd place qualifying which put him in good position to start the penultimate race of the season. In what was one of the most exciting races through the season, Rzadzinski battled relentlessly, even going side by side through multiple corners on the daunting racetrack. Ultimately, Rzadzinski finished just off the podium in 4th place in a very competitive event.

Still in position to fight for the championship on Sunday, Rzadzinski qualified his Myrtle Beach Fire & Safety supported car in third position for the final round of the season. As the race commenced, he dove up the inside to gain a position into the first corner, but was left on the outside for the following corner which dropped him all the way to 5th spot. In another heated battle, Rzadzinski battled in the top group and was in 4th when a full course caution came out. Unfortunately, despite setting the race’s fastest lap and charging through the field, the race concluded under yellow which did not allow Rzadzinski to attempt a comeback.

Rzadzinski rounded out the 2010 season as Championship Runner-Up for a second consecutive season. Following a strong rookie showing in 2009, Rzadzinski entered 2010 without even planning on competing a full season in the Ontario Formula Ford Championship. However, with the support of partners The ABL Group, SuperTint, Teckelklub, Shelemey Financial, CSP Engineering, Myrtle Beach Fire & Safety Co., and Lube-X, Rzadzinski was able to complete 6 out of the series’ 7 weekends. With more experience on his side, Stefan collected 3 wins on the season, 3 pole positions, along with 6 podium finishes and a battle for the championship right to the last event.

“It was a tough weekend out there, and I think we didn’t quite get the results we were looking for in the end. I think the results were a bit misleading as it was definitely a weekend with a lot of positives. I set my fastest ever lap around Mosport, and had great battles throughout the whole weekend. I think it was very exciting for the people watching, and it was special to have those battles in front of my supporters The ABL Group and Myrtle Beach Fire & Safety Co. who were out at the track this weekend. I could not have completed this fantastic season without them.”

Stefan Rzadzinski will now be looking towards planning for the 2011 season.  For more information and updates on Stefan Rzadzinski and his motorsports, check out www.rzadracing.com.

Allen Berg ranks among Canada's top racing personalities. He won the Formula Pacific Tasman Championship, won at Silverstone against Ayrton Senna and Martin Brundle in perhaps the greatest year ever in British Formula 3, and qualified for nine starts in F1, a record bettered among his countrymen only by Gilles and Jacques Villeneuve.
