ABRS Revisits Arizona Motorsports Park

Amp pitsLast weekend, the Allen Berg Racing Schools team packed their bags and made the trek out to Arizona Motorsports Park in Goodyear, Arizona. Rain tires were mounted on the cars with expectations of wet weather throughout the weekend, but we were instead welcomed by almost nothing but clouds and sunshine, perfect conditions for some fast laps.

With groups of both One Day Program and Advanced Program students, we had the opportunity to really flesh out the intricacies of this high speed track. While most everyone was quick to adapt to the proper driving line and get a feel for the ~100 MPH straightaways, this track gave us the opportunity to really work on techniques in proper braking. Alongside techniques in braking, we also worked with each of our students on heel-toe downshifting and rev matching; these driving techniques are monumentally important for all racing drivers.

Most importantly, we witnessed a great deal of improvement among our students as they progressed through the program. The Allen Berg Racing Schools team thanks Arizona Motorsports Park for hosting us again!

Allen Berg

Allen Berg ranks among Canada's top racing personalities. He won the Formula Pacific Tasman Championship, won at Silverstone against Ayrton Senna and Martin Brundle in perhaps the greatest year ever in British Formula 3, and qualified for nine starts in F1, a record bettered among his countrymen only by Gilles and Jacques Villeneuve.
