Neither. We supply the race car, the fuel, and all safety gear, and prior track experience is not required. This program takes drivers of all levels, from first-time drivers through experienced racers, and the coaching scales to your ability. Manual transmission proficiency is generally expected, so contact us if you are unsure.

Students arrive at 7:45 AM and select driving apparel. Classroom instruction opens with vehicle controls and the fundamentals of race driving, then trackside work covers the formula car, track reconnaissance in the van, and fitting each driver to a racecar. On-track running begins with lead-follow sessions behind a professional racer, so you see the racing line driven properly before you find it yourself.

Personalized coaching, across both days. Coaches are knowledgeable competitive racers with professional backgrounds and extensive experience who are still racing, and they mentor you one-on-one through every driving session rather than briefing a group and stepping back. That personal instruction is what separates professional driver training from a track day.

Cornering techniques through turn-in, apex, and track-out, racing lines and vehicle dynamics, threshold braking, and racecraft including flags, passing rules, and traffic. Each one gets classroom theory, track time, and video review across the two days. The result is high-performance vehicle control and a real understanding of where a car's limits sit, which is what builds lasting confidence at speed.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is a premier location for race car driving schools, with real elevation change, a mix of corner types, and the Corkscrew. Learning on this circuit means structured high-speed training in a controlled environment: closed course, identical cars, professional coaching, and safety procedures covered in the classroom before you need them.

Allen Berg Racing Schools provides one-, two-, and three-day programs. The one-day is an introduction, the two-day combines our one-day and lapping programs, and the three-day adds a full extra day of open lapping and data work. The two-day and three-day both qualify you to apply for an SCCA Novice Permit.

USD $5,995 per driver, covering the race car, safety gear, instruction, data, video, and fuel. Travel costs and accommodation sit outside the program fee, and most drivers plan three nights around a two-day program. Students travel in from across the country, and we have negotiated exclusive rates at the Monterey Plaza Hotel.

Competitive racers with professional backgrounds and extensive experience. The school is run by owner Allen Berg, a former Formula One driver who raced in Formula One, Formula Two, Formula Three, Formula Atlantic, sports prototypes, and touring cars, and who qualified for nine starts in the 1986 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The two-day qualifies determined drivers to apply for a Novice Permit with the Sports Car Club of America, the governing body for club racing in the United States, and that is where a competition license starts. Yes. Spectators are welcome at the track, and there is plenty to watch across a full day of running. The GoPro footage is yours to take home and share with family and friends afterward, and most drivers do not forget the thrill of a formula car at its limits.
