The Thermal Club and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Start the ABRS 2015 Season
The year kicked off for Allen Berg Racing Schools with visits to two of the country’s most pristine racing venues-The Thermal Club and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The Thermal Club welcomed us to typical sunny Southern California weather, for a beautiful three-day weekend of racing school. We had One Day and Advanced students break in the brand new North Palm Circuit at The Thermal Club, a high-speed course layout on some of the smoothest pavement that any race track has seen. The design of this course called for extra emphasis on the driving line through high-speed sections, as well as proper techniques in threshold braking after the 100+ MPH straightaways.
In February, we packed up and headed to the Monterey Bay area, home to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. We had One, Two, and Three Day students coming from out of state and out of the country to drive our Formula Renault race cars around this world-famous race track. While we had our share of both sunshine and rain, we had rain tires and dry racing slicks ready to go for our students to get practice in all conditions. At this event, students rapidly picked up speed as they navigated around the twists and turns of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and were able to experience the legendary Corkscrew turn from behind the wheel.
