Tatuus Formula Renault 1600 Monza racecars:
- Built in Italy by Specialist Racing Constructors Tatuus.
- Monocoque Chassis manufactured out of the same factory which produce a number of Formula One team chassis.
- Chassis are 100% Carbon Fiber vs every other school which uses tube frame chassis (1960’s technology).
- Gearboxes are 5 speed “sequential” transmissions with “no lift shift” programming, allowing the driver to smoothly make gear changes at a faster and more consistent rate, with less possibility of missed shifts, something quite common in the older H pattern technology. This system also allows for the use of both “left and right foot braking” techniques, both of which are taught at ABRS, and not available at other schools using the standard 4 speed H pattern which require standard shifting and heel and toe downshift techniques. This is the same technology used in series such as Champcar, IRL and Formula Atlantic.
- Each Racecar is equipped with a dash-mounted MoTeC Onboard Data Acquisition Computer including GPS Tracking and on board video camera. These computers record driver, engine and chassis information, which in our one and two day courses will be used by ABRS instructors to analyze driver performance and thus enhance their driving skills. These systems are now commonplace at all levels of racing, but seldom used in racing schools.
- Suspension is Monoshock Pushrod suspension - is a new technology in which both front wheels act on a single spring and shock absorber and is mounted on the top of the chassis, connected to the wheels by means of a “pushrod” This system reduces both weight and air resistance making for a faster racecar. Pushrod suspensions are common all advanced formula race cars such as Formula One and Indy Car.
- Engines are 160 HP Fuel Injected 4 cylinder 1600 cc, manufactured by Renault, 2005 & 2006 Formula One World Champions.
Safety Equipment – Sabelt
ABRS’ priority is your safety. For this end we have entered into an exclusive agreement with Italian driving apparel manufacturer Sabelt, who is also official supplier to Escuderia Ferrari Formula One team.
All Sabelt karting and racewear is current FIA (International Federation of Automobile Sport – sanctioning group for Formula One and all worldwide autosport) approved for international competition, which means if it is good enough for Ferrari and other professional racing teams, it is good enough for us.

We are offering 2 Road Car Lapping Sessions in the students own cars at the Race City Speedway roadracing circuit on Tuesday August 26 from 7 AM to 12 PM.
Our Introductory Road Car Lapping session will run in the morning. This will include a one hour classroom session at 7AM (for those that have not previously taken our classroom module) followed by basic exercises commencing at 8AM, lead and follow lapping with instructors to learn the driving line, then supervised open lapping until 12 PM. Cost for this program is $200 + GST per person.
For graduates of our Formula Car and Road Car programs (including the morning program on August 26) we are offering supervised Road Car lapping sessions (no exercises or classroom theory) on this same afternoon, Tuesday August 26, from 12PM to 4PM. Cost for this program is $200 + GST per person.
We will provide a pre event tech form with guidelines to ensure safe vehicle performance on this day. The on track sessions require use of helmets, which we can provide at no additional charge.

ABRS is pleased to announce a technical alliance with Motec Systems, recognized world leader in racecar data acquisition technology for professional racing teams worldwide. The addition of cutting edge data acquisition computers synchronized with on-board video cameras installed in all of our Formula Cars will provide a record of all driving inputs, which allow us to critique driving performance in debriefing sessions regularly throughout the day in our 1 and 2 day Formula Car courses. Further, drivers in our 1 and 2 day Formula car courses a complimentary DVD video of lapping sessions as recorded by our on board cameras. By offering this unique service as a standard component of our curriculum sets ABRS apart from all other racing and driving schools.
